The Pope’s inability to personally react to millions of tweets and followers is understandable. Because Pope Francis does not have a public email address, the only method to approach him is by regular letter. Pope Francis receives thousands of messages, letters, and packages every day from all around the world. Mon. Giuliano Gallorini is in charge of the Pope’s correspondence, and he, Sister Anna, and two laic women in the Palazzo Apostolico, deal with any communication sent to Pope Bergoglio.
The first step, according to Mons. Gallorini, would be to divide the letters according to the language, then open and read the contents of each. Every letter will be answered, but the more complicated ones involving problems of conscience will be given directly to the Pope’s secretaries so that Pope Francis can respond personally or offer instructions on how the letter should be answered.
